Torbirdy shows my ip address

Post by Lonewolf88 » Tue May 13, 2014 23:24

TBird 24.5.0 Win 8.1 Pro x64

When looking at an email I have sent from my GMail account through TBird (BCC to me) I can see my sent from IP address, when using TorBirdy.

Should this be anonymised, or should I set TBird to use JonDo as a proxy and disregard torbirdy, to overcome this issue?

Thanks!

O Boy, you're using a G-Mail account!? Why not pin your CV directly to the NSA blackboard at Utah?

You have to use JonDo (or Tor) with TorBirdy to stay anonymous. Without JonDo (or Tor) your IP address is not hidden for the mail provider and GMail will insert this IP in the mail header.

Don't disregard TorBirdy, it implements many security and privacy features. But it can't hide your IP without help of an anonymisation proxy. See our online: https://anonymous-proxy-servers.net/en/ ... rbird.html

Alternatively you may use a trusted mail provider (list above by "GiHimp") which doesn't insert your IP in the mail header.

If you are looking for an English-speaking provider, I recommend you 'runbox': https://runbox.com/

He is quite inexpensive, you can pay anonymously by post and the result of the Qualys SSL Labs test is good. https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze ... box.com%2F
