Skype alternative

Post by goodDo1 » Mon Oct 14, 2013 15:39

Skype alternative : sipml5
Described as : 'The world's first HTML5 SIP client (WebRTC) ' .

http://code.google.com/p/sipml5/

Would this be of interest to JonDo users?

No, because WebRTC can be anonymized with JonDo.

But it may be of interest for readers here. ;-)
Thanks.

WebRTC can or cannot be anonymized with JonDo? Please clarify.

I've used http://microsip.org.ua/ as a SIP softphone but I guess it is also not possible to use it anonymously. Please comment.

What are then Skype alternatives that are privacy friendly if I may ask in all my ignorance.

WebRTC can NOT be anonymized with JonDo! (Sorry)

As an alternative for Skype I can recommend the OSTN project. https://guardianproject.info/wiki/OSTN

It offers encrypted communication with SRTP/ZRTP. My favorite client for pc desktop is Jitsi (https://jitsi.org/), for Android CSipSimple. You can use it with normal SIP providers like IPtel.org or Ekiga.net or you may use an OSTN provider.
