Today, JonDos publishes a new version of the JonDo-Software, an IP changer and IP anonymization program, that you can use for anonymous surfing in the Internet.

What is JonDo?
JonDo is an open source and free-of-charge program for Windows, Linux and MacOS X. It hides the user's IP adress behind an anonymous IP address. In contrast to other anonymizers (VPNs, anonymous proxy servers), the user's anonymity stays protected even against the providers of the anonymous IP address.

JonDoFox 2.5.0: Anonymous E-Mail post boxes and compatibility with Firefox 4

Thursday, February 24. 2011

Today, the JonDos GmbH publishes the new version of JonDoFox, a privacy-friendly web browser, that you may also use for anonymous surfing, e.g. over anonymous proxy servers.

What is JonDoFox?

JonDoFox is both a profile (current version: 2.5.0) and an extension (current version: 0.2.8 ) for the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser. It protects the user's privacy while surfing the web. As it is open source software and free to use, it is an ideal add-on for anonymization services like JonDonym and Tor, but may also be used without anonymization software.

What is new?

JonDoFox is now fully compatible with the upcoming Firefox 4. Users may therefore easily update to the new browser version once it is available. users of earlier versons of JonDoFox have to update to the new profile in oder to fully use JonDoFox with Firefox 4. In Firefox 4, it will moreover be possible again to create a history of visited web sites, as an effective protection against stealing the history has been integrated in the browser.

As a completely new feature, you may now use JonDoFox also to easily create an anonymous e-mail post box free of charge at one of numerous service providers: The randomly generated address will then be inserted automatically into the current web page, e.g. in order to use a contact form or to login to a forum. This provides the users with a better protection againts spam, and they may moreover now easily surf the web with differerent pseudonyms.

As a further improvement, JonDoFox now also sends the browser header DNT / Do-Not-Track: If web sites interpret this header, the users will be even better protected against the creation of surf profiles. Moreover, some usability enhancements and a new anonymous user agent header have been added.

The JonDoFox development team is happy to present you the new version of JonDoFox! Enjoy it!

Strategy&Finance cancelled as operator

Monday, November 8. 2010
Due to the recent activities of Strategy&Finance, and regarding the activities of this Mix operator in the past, we had to cancel all contracts with Strategy&Finance today and with immediate effect. As we cannot tolerate the disrespectful verbal and public attacks against us and other JonDonym operators any longer, we were forced to this final decision. If you have detailed questions regarding this action, you may ask us (JonDos) or the other operators for more information.

New web pages online

Wednesday, September 29. 2010

Prof. Dr. Andreas Pfitzmann is dead

Friday, September 24. 2010
Prof Dr. Andreas Pfitzmann, the head of the privacy and data security group at Technische Universität Dresden, died on September 23, 2010, at the young age of 52. This is not only a sad day for his relatives, friends, and colleagues, but also for the privacy community. Andreas Pfitzmann was an enthusiastic and thorough researcher, and moreover one of the mental fathers of JonDonym. We will all miss him, but keep the memory of him, his ideas and his ideals.

Reduced prices for JonDonym by 39% OFF

Monday, September 13. 2010

Today, we reduced the prices per GByte for the JonDonym anonymization service by more than 39% by introducing a new traffic rate: The "Large" rate provides a monthly volume of 5 GByte highly secure, anonymized traffic, for only 18,75 Euro per month. This rate is ideal for web surfers that often download large files anonymously.

Please note: For using the new rate, you have to upgrade your JonDo to at least version 00.13.001. Earlier versions will not display the rate correctly and will show the rate as consumed after 5 GByte.

JonDoFox 0.2.6: More security for web searches and SSL connections

Thursday, September 9. 2010
Today, on the 9th of September, the JonDos GmbH publishes the new version of the JonDoFox anonymous browser software.

What is JonDoFox?

JonDoFox is both a profile (current version: 2.4.0) and an extension (current version: 0.2.6) for the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser. It protects the user's privacy while surfing the web. As it is open source software and free to use, it is an ideal add-on for anonymization services like JonDonym and Tor, but may also be used without anonymization tools.

What is new?

The new version of JonDoFox integrates a slightly enhanced version of the popular Firefox extension „Certificate Patrol“. „Certificate Patrol“ checks all encrypted (SSL-) connections to web pages whether their certificates have changed since the last visit. Thereby it is easier to see whether third parties  try to sneak into the secured connection (man-in-the-middle attack).

Furthermore, JonDoFox provides more security for the searchbar of Firefox: Automatic search suggestions are disabled  so that the data cannot be sent to search engines before the input is complete. Moreover, the input in the search field is immediately deleted after the search query is finished. As, in addition to that, the search history is deleted  every thirty minutes, it is not possible to reproduce the searching process. This also protects from a glance over the shoulder.

On startup of JonDoFox, an information page is now shown which shortly explains the numerous security features of the software. JonDoFox 0.2.6 as well as the JonDoFox profile 2.4.0 are compatible to Firefox 4 beta 4.

The JonDoFox development team is happy to present you the new version of JonDoFox! Enjoy it!

Free services are currently overloaded

Wednesday, September 1. 2010

The free services are currently overloaded, as some of the services are unavailable for various reasons. This situation may last another one or two weeks.

Reasons:

  • The Dresden Mix has a severe error that leads to its disappearance in the inforaservice after some hours. We did heavy implementation work to find the error, but failed until now. We hope to get this done within the next 2-3 weeks. Unfortunatley, our development ressources are very limited.
  • The free Bolzano exit mit (SurfSky) is down. The server is unreachable to reasons unknown to the operator. It is unclear when it will be online again.
  • The free ULD mix is down. ULD assumes that it has to do with billing issues. They are investigating the problem, but we have no report on how long it will take.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused thereby. The Premium services are stable as usual, though.

New version of the JonDo anonymization software

Tuesday, August 31. 2010
The version 00.13.001 of the IP anonymization software JonDo provides a series of enhancements:

Changelog

JonDonym is an anonymizing Internet network of mutually independent and geographically distributed
service providers, the "mix operators". The JonDonym anonymization service provides very powerful
protection of your Internet identity, the IP address: it protects both against the observation of your Internet activities by tird parties, e.g. Internet providers, and against the mix operators themselves.

The software (client and server) of JonDonym - developed together with German Universities - is completely open source: its security may thereby be analyzed by independent privacy experts. The base functions of the program are free of charge. Faster and more secure Premium services are available for a fee.

The JonDo program is available for Windows, Linux and MacOS X. You may also run it from a USB flash drive without installation.
