Ich normalerweise in der englischen Sektion schreiben, aber ich brauche Hilfe von meinen deutschen Freunden hier. Hat jemand irgendwelche Erfahrungen mit diesem USB LTE speedstick:

http://www.t-mobile.de/mobiles-internet ... -_,00.html

Hallo,

leider stehen derzeit anscheinend keine Prepaid-Anbieter/Tarife zur Verfügung.

I initially thought the T-Mobile Speedstick was by the company Novatel Wireless. I didn’t pay too much attention—I didn’t realize it was not a Novatel USB Speedstick.

I am looking for a particular Novatel ovation MC679 dongle but can’t locate it anywhere (except Canada, but only via CDMA). Novatel will not sell directly to customers; nor will sell they to retail stores (online or off). But only to phone carriers and distributors.

I’m all too familiar with prepaids (phones, modems, etc). And I’m familiar with tethering (cell phone to notebook internet connection).
Although I’m not entirely opposed to tethering, there are things about it that I don’t like:
1. I’m linking my phone calls to my Internet connections (a no-no for privacy). Although prepaid, it is still easier to identify a person (based on incoming and outgoing calls) to his Internet connections than keeping the twain separate.
2. Speeds tend to be slower.
3. It can be expensive.

Tethering is fine sometimes but not ideal.

I prefer USB dongles (Tri-bands, Quad-bands) for their speed, security, durability, and international capabilities. And the fact that I am separate from my smart phone.

Purchasing USB broadband dongles is not the problem. My post was about a specific speedstick that I mistook for some other brand.

That is the one I am referring to. I have already been on the Novatel website. They don't sell directly but only to carrier and distributors. The one from Canada is CDMA (BELL) and they won't sell to non-Canadians.

Either I have to rent a maildrop in Canada, in order to forward it to me; or I have to take a trip to Canada exclusively for this purpose. No USB dongle is worth this trouble...

If you had looked on this page

http://www.novatelwireless.com/index.ph ... t&Itemid=5

you should have seen that at tthe top of the page

so you looked at all of them and none of them had this stick?

Again, I have seen this; you must understand a few things:

1. Most of the carriers on the list are CDMA (only AT&T and Rogers are GSM). I do not want CDMA.
2. This list of carriers does not mean that each of these carriers have this particular ovation MC679 speedstick. In fact, none of them currently have it, except BELL, a Canadian CDMA carrier.
3. The only US version close to the MC679 is the ovation MC551, which is carried by Verizon. This speedstick does not come prepaid; it only comes with a contract. So no good--and Verizon is CDMA.
4. Rogers, on their website, do not carry any Novatel products (currently). And AT&T does not carry Novatel either. It usually has Sierra Wireless.
5. If you look at the European carriers, you will see that T-Mobile (Austria) carries Novatel. This is why I posted the link to the German T-Mobile--I thought that speedstick was the Novatel ovation MC551, like the U.S. verizon. Not so. The German and Austrian T-Mobile speedstick are the same.

In the end, there are other products and other services, so it is no big deal.

Thanks for the input.
