I have just updated to the latest Tor release – 2.2.37-1. I have not changed any settings.

Why then, when using ip-check.info, do I get a warning to tell me:
“You are using Tor, but your browser profile differs from the recommended `Tor Browser Bundle` default profile.” ?

Any clarification appreciated.

Thanks

JonDo's anonymity-test is waiting for the JonDoFox-"browser-profile"... bundled with Tor, instead of the IP-changer JonDo. It's not expecting the torproject-configured Tor-"browser-bundle", which you are using.

In that case the ip-check is "orange", instead of "green"... because it is made for this constellation.

But, doesn't matter, if nothing else. You are on the safer side... with Tor-network instead of JonDonym. Try the tor-configured xenobite.eu-check, there you will be "green".

Wrong.

Basically, the Tor Browser Bundle bumped its User Agent and we do not have adapted the test yet. We'll do that as soon as possible, though.

Does that mean? This is not a matter of the actual updated TBB-version as supposed.

Because, some people told me about this phenomenon in former Tor Browser Bundles too. So, I tried to explain it in a way as done above... which is obviously wrong.

Good to know.

Update done.

You can see: "You are using Tor!" with the latest TorBrowser.

Thanks for sorting out that problem so quickly.

Can you please comment on something else with ip-check.info that I have noticed?

When using Tor and the Traceroute function of ip-check.info to see the IPs of servers through which my requests are passing, I have noticed that, for the last few days, the same two IPs always appear as first and second servers (the first one is always the first one).

This means that, since the first server gets my IP – though not the info on the site I wish to visit – it can log the time I am online.

These two IPs do not appear on the list of servers that I see when using the Tor Network Map.

Could you pls comment?

Thanks

Traceroute uses UDP/ICMP which are no anonymized by the Tor network (thus, the servers you see are not on the network map).

I misread your former post (I thought you were using traceroute yourself and not the one on the ip-check). Now the answer: The traceroute os done by the ip-check server in order to find the trace to your Tor node. The ip-check server itself (first server) is no Tor node (and the second hop in the traceroute neither). Therefore, they don't show up on your Tor network map.
