Yes, you can go back only one page. It is possible for an attacker to read the number of pages in your TAB history. Because we can not protect the access to this value, only the actual and the last page bevor is stored in the TAB history.

It is a security feature! It is NOT recommended do disable it.

But in case you really want to disable it, it can be done in about:config. Set the following values to 50 to restore the old behaviour:

No I do not need to change if it is a security feature.
On my other computer where I still use FF 3.6.X how can I limit also to one page only.

Setting "browser.sessionhistory.max_entries" to "2". Note: That setting is only important if you are activating JavaScript somehow during one browsing session. If you have a session (or better a profile) where you never enable JavaScript setting the above mentioned value to "2" is not needed from a fingerprint-mitigation-point-of-view.
