Hi

Is it possible to direct your traffic from the exit node (premium service) towards Tor

so traffic would go through mix1 - mix2 - mix3 - tor

Regards

Yes, you have to set a proxy in your Tor configuration. Use the following proxy settings:

Host: localhost
Port: 4001

But we recommend the other way of combination "Tor + JonDo" to avoid the using of bad exit nodes:

Browser - Tor network - Mix cascades

Why do you want to use your combination?

Hi Cane !!

Sorry but how do you set a proxy in tor via jondoFF ??

I would have imagined that mix - tor would have given you a greater degree of anonymity thats why I suggested the above mix

Set the following values in your Tor config "torrc":
Code:
HTTPProxy localhost:4001
HTTPSProxy localhost:4001

The first value redirects all directory requests throught JonDonym, the second value redirects all OR traffic throught JonDonym.

The main problem of Tor are not the entry nodes but the exit nodes. It is easy to setup a sniffing bad exit node for Tor. This was shown by many security research teams:

- Dan Egerstad: http://www.h-online.com/security/news/i ... 33620.html

- Moxie Marlinspike: http://www.securityfocus.com/brief/910

- C. Castelluccia: http://planete.inrialpes.fr/projects/pr ... -searches/

- and TorProject: http://hal.inria.fr/inria-00574178/en/

Thats why we recommend the combination "Tor -> JonDonym" to avoid the sniffing of bad exit nodes with JonDonym. In this case the sniffing bad exit node can only see full encrypted JonDonym traffic and the law enforcement feature of JonDonym does not work anymore.

Hi

I still seem to have many problems config tor - jondo

here is what I have tried without no success

open the configuration of JonDo and go to the section "Network". Enable the option "I am forced to use a proxy" and set the values

Type: SOCKS5
Host: 127.0.0.1
Port: 9050

I have also tried host as localhost

I am then asked to first reconnect - I do this then I cannot connect back to jondo

I do no enter any values at proxy requires authorization or user ID do I need to ?? if so where do I find this information ?

How are you using Tor? Via the TorBrowserBundle? If so, you have to launch it and then open its preferences to get the current port where Tor is listening at. You need to enter this port instead of "9050". No, there is no authorization info needed.

How do you start Tor?

You have to start a local Tor client, before you can use it. How to start depends on your installation.

How did you install Tor?

If you were using the TorBrowserBundle please have a look at our notice about configuration of the "ListenPort" of Tor at: https://anonymous-proxy-servers.net/en/ ... t.html#tor

Hi

At last I think I have it !!!

I have the tor browser bundle downloaded and running (this says I am connected to the tor network)

Then I enter jondo - config - network

I am forced to use a proxy - checked

type = socks

host = localhost

port = 9050

Jondo will now not connect to the mix's without tor bundle running and connected to tor - so by this I take it that things are correctly configured

Is there anyway to confirm this ??

Yes!

If the JonDo IP changer is on and the Tor network is on, then the configuration will be proven with the following:

Exit out of the Vidalia Control Panel (Tor). As soon as you turn Tor to off (exit Tor) the JonDo IP changer will lose its connection. It will then search to make a new connection--but it will not be able to because the IP Changer is configured to first connect to Tor, which it cannot access because Tor is off. If Tor is turned on, then JonDo will make a successful new connection.
