Having trouble again with port 119. news.mozilla.org

Running JD Premium services, any post to mozilla ng through 119 times out.

Can receive ok.

Thunderbird 5.0, Ubuntu 11.04, Gnome 2.32.1, kernel 2.6.38-10

However with same set up, using SSL connection through port 563 has no issues posting to news.individual net. Unfortunately mozilla does not allow an SSL connection last time I looked.

If I change the settings in TB to use no proxy (i.e ignore JD) I can post ok through 119.

Not sure if this problem has arisen with the latest upgrades to fix the SSL problems previously reported by myself from the back blocks of Thailand (and possibly also reported by others), as I have not been a regular contributor to the mozilla ng.

Bug, or feature, or me? :D

Does it work with none of the existing premium services? We did not change anything regarding this port.

As far as I can ascertain, does not work with any of the premium services.

Only seems to affect port 119, not 563 (SSL)

Sorry for the late reply but we are currently quite busy releasing new JonDoFox versions due to the upcoming FF6. I won't have time to look at your problem this week but I'll try to reproduce it in the next one.

I thought a bit about your problem and guess there is no solution for your Mozilla newsgroup issue as long as Mozilla do not offer SSL (and they (in fact their provider) don't yet). There is nothing JonDo can do here. BUT: That should not be a problem for you as you have two other options to post/get news from that group: Either via Google Groups or if you subscribe to the mailing list. Both are equivalent to the "original" news group. See: http://www.mozilla.org/about/forums/ (the third column in the table).
