Hi,

i'm new to this service, so please forgive me if i ask stupid questions!

my problem: i installed jondo and jondofox with the latest fedora-system succesfully. after launching jondo, everything is fine. but when i start firefox and choose the 'jondofox-profile' it shows the following error-message:
"firefox cannot use the profile 'jondofox' because it is in use. to continue, close the running instance of firefox or choose a different profile."
but firefox wasn't running, i checked it with ps, so i can't kill it.

any suggestions?

Seems, you have a lock file in your profile folder. Please remove the file "$HOME/.mozilla/firefox/profile/lock". Afterwards JonDoFox may start.

But unfortunatly, there's no "lock"-file.

Do you have hidden files in the directory (someting like .parentlock which could cause this issue as well)? Apart from that http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_in_use might help you as well.

There's no hidden file in the profile directory. The files in my profile-directory where listed with ls -laih, so everything is shown.
There's a .parentlock-file in the standard-profile directory, but deleting this didn't help me anyway.

I've read the linked article, but couldn't find any resolution.

Do you know where i can find a sample directory-listing of a working profile directory? maybe something went wrong during the installation...

Could you check the content of the file

and if the path to the profile is correct

and by the way how did you installed JonDo and JonDoFox?

as far as i can see it's ok. the path should be ok as well.
i installed jondo and jondofox manually in the shell. maybe there's the problem.
after i read your post, i installed it in a virtual ubuntu-system via a packetmanager. there it works correctly. and i saw that there's an entry in the 'applications menu' for jondofox in ubuntu. here in fedora i have none of that.

Could you try to download the file jondofox_linux_en.tar.bz2 again and unpack it.

Start the Profile-Manager of Firefox (firefox -P or firefox -P -no-remote)
Choose "Create Profile..."
Next
Enter a profile name like jondofox2 ..
Choose Folder... and select the directory "profile" from the unpacked jondofox_linux_en.tar.bz2
Finish

Could you start this new Firefox-profile?
