A few days ago a user threatened to leave JonDonym because PayPal refuses to accept his credit card for payment of his subscription. He insisted on using a credit card.

Actually, there is a simple solution for buying Bitcoins with credit cards: https://bitcoinnordic.com/ provides this service in a few simple steps and for a reasonable fee.

They even suggest a site to temporarily hold these coins (if one does not have a wallet yet or does not wish to download Bitcoin and generate a wallet of their own).

Rather than starting to accept credit cards, I would suggest to JonDonym to consider referring inquiries about credit card uses to this service or other similar services.

A good idea--but I'm afraid, misguided. I cannot speak of the Bitcoin Nordic system; however, I can state that credit card to Bitcoin transactions and vice-versa, are dangerous.

I know of no legitimate business that will accept credit cards for Bitcoins, especially PayPal. You see, Bitcoins are what are called "non-reversible payments," whereas credit cards and PayPal are reversible payments. Such transactions are so open to fraud.

If I purchase Bitcoins from an exchanger with a credit card I can complain to PayPal or my credit card company, who will then reverse the payment, and I will keep the Bitcoins...for free.

The exchanger gets screwed. Just as easily, however, exchangers can screw customers.

The system is too easy to manipulate, too easy to take advantage of, and too easy to commit fraud.

You will never convince some people about the virtues of digital currency over credit cards, no matter what your intention is or how well meaning you are.

Found another site which exchanges PayPal to ฿ : http://www.quickbitcoins.net . Exchanges relatively small amounts and has hefty charges . But it is working and apparently doing what it is supposed to do.

It appears that these people do not seem to listen to advise of the risk of chargeback (they call it 'clawback' ). Of course they know all about it and yet plunge and take a risk.

As they say: if you are a risktaker, you can lose but you also can make it big. On the other hand, if you never ever risk anything and always see only the potential for loss, you'll never make anything. That also applies to people who make it their life mission to discourage others too .

In my knowledge Paypal classifies Bitcoin as a currency and currency exchange is against Paypal's policy. PayPal has a blanket prohibition against using their service to operate a currency exchange.

@cane You are likely right. Yet eBay.com and eBay.de and others are selling Bitcoins and payment is through PayPal. Similarly, they are selling PaySafeCards through PayPal. Not to speak about #bitcoin-irc where such transactions through PP are common.

And I found yet another site where Bitoins can be bought online in some countries : http://www.dialcoin.com/ .

I hasten to add that I believe that eventually the whole concept of Bitcin may fail - possibly when the exchanges are suddenly closed.

But then other things fail - like paper money - in 1924 the Mark became worthless and again in 1945 and now the Euro keeps depreciating with all that printing. In terms of gold the dollar has already depreciated more than 90%.

Actually, the only good thing is to be young and healthy and enjoy life (sadly none apply to me!).
