Which USB Flash Drive do you recommend for encryption and privacy matters? Something like Ironkey or a USB that has Truecrypt software?

Ironkey has government funding and research buttressing it--can it be trusted not to have any backdoors?

Which USB Flash Drive is recommended?

It has backdoors time by time. ;-)

FIPS Level certified USB sticks with encryption were "hacked": http://www.h-online.com/security/news/i ... 95308.html

I recommed a normal USB stick like this: http://true-random.com/homepage/project ... small.html (German page - sorry)

Use a disk encryption software like Truecrypt (WIN) or DM-Crypt (Linux) and encrypt the hole device. This more secure than the build in encryption software of some sticks.
