Anyone seen this? (skype-related, not to jondo)

Observed with LinuxMint+skype4.1.0.20

(possibly observable with other OS' too?)

After quitting skype (>>skype menu>>quit skype; not just closing the
skype window), skype persists as a zombie process even after
trying to kill it, via GUI as well as <kill [PID]>.(this happens with other
processes occasionally,too)

But, at shutting down it kills itself just before the final
shut-down.I've seen no other zombie process do that.

Has anyone observed this, too?

No. Will you drop Skype now?

I actually have dropped it some time ago; it's simply still part of my "normal" setup I hardly ever go online with anymore. Apart from calling those folks who refuse to part with skype, I use mumble. Not that I consider it bulletproof safe, but at least it's open source and You can meet with Your buddies at many different small servers that are available - neither registration nor login. That beats using big brother's (microsoft's) wire any time....

Upside: definitely better audio quality (after proper config) at somewhat less required bandwith.
Downside: You have to make appointments.

However, I've not tried to pipe it through multilayer routing; not sure voip can be done so.

I understand what you are saying but I think there should be more comments regarding the threat that was initially started so that the pool of thoughts is attracted. Regards.

Do You mean to say that I should have been more detailed?
Don't see how, though.....

However, by now I've come to conclude that this was caused by Mint and not by skype.

But here is something more serious:

Best Regards.

I have been told credibly that mumble can be piped through JonDo-premium.

Not much of a point doing that with skype, though.(proprietary program and well known for it's "skypegate" affairs.)
