When I login to the several websites I tried, I can to my great suprise change the cascade and still stay logged onto these websites. I thought the website would think the connection was broken and so I would be automatically logged off. And that brings me to my question.

When changing the cascade, Jondo warns that the anonymity is off. This is only for a short time of course, until a connection is made to the new cascade.

Since anonymity is shortly off, is it possible for the website I'm logged in to, to see my own IP adress when the cascade is being changed? Since somehow the website knows I'm still there, because I'm not kicked out.

I'm probably babbling, but I'm somewhat confused.

HTTP is a stateless protocol. You are not connect to the login server all the time.

After successful login the webserver send a cookie to your webbrowser or append a session ID to the URL. The cookie or session ID contains the the information: "User Pantomine was successful verified."

If you want to get the next web page your browser connects the webserver and send the cookie (or session ID) and the webserver knows: "Ok - Pantomine was verified and is logged in."

If you want to get the next but one web page same procedure again.

You can go offline between the next and the next but one page - no problem. There is no stable connection at all the time. You are only connected to the webserver, if you get a new web page. Connection was closed if the page was recieved.

If anonymity ist "off" in JonDo you can not connect to the webserver. Outgoing traffic is blocked and you get a warning. Your own IP address is not exposed to any webserver.

For security reasons a webserver can check the IP address over a login session to avoid session highjacking. In this case the session is closed if you change the mix cascade. But it is an optional feature.

Ah, of course that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
