Anonymization services are great for bypassing censorship, freedom of speech, privacy, and security. However, they are also essential for registering for most types of online services. Yet, a diminutive portion of online services utilize advanced proxy checks and screen out even the most elite of proxies. In particular, they perform a WIMIA test, which most proxies and VPNs fail.

Quite a few of JonDonym Premium and Free Services fail the WIMIA test as well.

Failing the WIMIA test is problematic when registering for some very important online activities. Thus, it prevents the use of anonymization services when needed most.

Some Recommendations:

Consider adding a WIMIA test on the ip-check.info

Revamp the Premium Cascades so the exit nodes do not fail this all important test.

Thanks for your advice. Do you have an in-deep link about it. I found only the test page.

No, I only have a link. http://whatismyipaddress.com/proxy-check

This is the test page you are probably referring to. I have not found any in depth information on the test. However, I am aware some services utilize this WIMIA test and often flag any potential interaction as proxy connections.

The Pluto exit mix must be doing something right since it passes the WIMIA test.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to be looking into this, as well.

I'm curious about their comment...

Quote:
This proxy detector is constantly being updated. If you are using a proxy server and it was not detected please check back in a few days and see if we are able to detect the proxy server.

I wonder if they're simply detecting through a single, static exit IP with multiple users and the Pluto exit simply hasn't been "caught" because not enough users have been detected?

Then again, I'm no security guru. Just a privacy connoisseur.

TFG

PS I'm interested in your privacy novel. Once I finish dealing with bitcoin privacy, I may purchase it. I've already read the works of JJ Luna and many others!

Yes - in my oponion it looks like a static IP list too.
