JonDoFox 0.2.6: More security for web searches and SSL connections
Today, on the 9th of September, the JonDos GmbH publishes the new version of the JonDoFox anonymous browser software.
What is JonDoFox?JonDoFox is both a profile (current version: 2.4.0) and an extension (current version: 0.2.6) for the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser. It protects the user's privacy while surfing the web. As it is open source software and free to use, it is an ideal add-on for anonymization services like JonDonym and Tor, but may also be used without anonymization tools.
New version of the JonDo anonymization software
The version 00.13.001 of the IP anonymization software JonDo provides a series of enhancements:
JonDonym is an anonymizing Internet network of mutually independent and geographically distributed
service providers, the "mix operators". The JonDonym anonymization service provides very powerful
Anonymous surfing in console mode: JonDos publishes JonDoConsole
JonDos publishes JonDoConsole, a professional tool for the IP-anonymization
The IP anonymization tool JonDo is now available as a console version
and, respectively, for the Linux/Unix shell. The new software is very
slight and fast, it takes few system resources and provides a lot of
fine-grained settings for individual adjustment. These attributes make
it excellent for professional usage.

nukular - gloin: Closing of port 443 / HTTPS
Our free mix "nukular-gloin" has been mis-used in the past by spammers that use insecure webmail interfaces to send spam. We have therefore decided to close access to the HTTPS port (443) which should make it more difficult for spammers. We regret having to take this measure. Our goal however, is to provide a free anonymous server, not a gateway for spammers.
Should we continue to have problems with spammers, we will have to close our exit node.

BSD magazine as a source of knowledge for FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD
The BSD mag started 1-2 years ago. It meanwhile turned out to be a valuable source of knowledge for system administrators, network administrators and other folks from the BSD universe: FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD and other BSDs.
SecureInternet now considers to contribute some security related articles to the BSD mag
However, the BSD mag is recommended. Free downloads of the PDF version are available.
